Common Causes of AC Water Leakage
Your air conditioner may leak water for several reasons, including:
- Blocked Drain Pipe: Dust, dirt, and debris can obstruct the drain line and prevent water from flowing out properly.
- Dirty Air Filter: Restricted airflow can cause the evaporator coil to freeze and produce excess water when the ice melts.
- Frozen Evaporator Coil: Ice formation can lead to water dripping from the indoor unit.
- Improper AC Installation: Incorrect installation or drainage positioning may cause water to flow in the wrong direction.
- Damaged Drain Pan: A cracked or damaged drain pan may allow water to escape.
- Drainage System Problems: Loose connections, damaged pipes, or other drainage issues can result in water leakage.
A proper inspection helps determine the actual cause and the appropriate repair method.
